The Pilgrims boys soccer team continued their strong start to the 2025 season, taking home the championship at this weekend’s four-team LCS Invitational.
LCS opened the tournament against Division 1 Holt. After a scoreless first half, senior defender Will Marl fired an arcing shot over the keeper, off the post, and into the net—his first goal in just the third game of his high school career. Carson Block earned the assist.
Holt evened the score, but junior Owen Andrus quickly regained the lead, slotting a loose ball in the box into an open net to make it 2-1. Sophomore Noah Flory added the insurance goal, connecting with a bouncing clearance and finding the corner of the net to send LCS to the championship match.
In the finals, the Pilgrims faced Kalamazoo Christian. Andrus struck again, giving LCS an early 1-0 advantage. That proved all the offense was needed, as senior keeper Brady Carmichael and the Pilgrims defense held strong. Carmichael recorded his second shutout of the season, and LCS lifted the trophy.
