2024-2025 LCS Men's Basketball Preview
by LCS Senior - Trevor Orton
As the autumn leaves conclude falling and the trees become bare, the soccer field gets cleaned up for the end of its season, and the volleyball nets are packed up in exchange for basketball hoops, the grueling winter sports season begins with basketball, and will last all the way up until the end of March for some teams. Lansing Christian, will hope to be one of those teams cutting the nets at the end of March, and with a new look roster, with improving veterans, believes it has a chance to be very competitive in 2024-2025. The guy at the top of the food chain for Lansing Christian is head coach Grayson Fuller, who is on a mission in his third season, and will try to emulate his first year, where he led the team to the regional finals and had a 11 win improvement from 2021-2022. The Pilgrims lost 0 seniors from last year's squad, and everyone has been working hard to try to make it back to the promised land.
The Pilgrims will be led by the two-headed monster duo of seniors David Hall and Ethan Damesworth, who both averaged around 14 PPG last season as juniors, on their way to earning All-CMAC honorable mention honors. Other key returners include returning captain Collin Leavitt (8.2 PPG, 4 RPG), sophomore sensation Brennan Sendow, who in limited games due to an injury, averaged 4.5 PPG and 2 RPG a game as a freshman. Quinn Jamieson is a returning guard who provides a solid 3 point shot and excellent perimeter defense. Noah Bruno, who has been eager to play since he arrived at Lansing Christian, is finally eligible to play after transferring from Okemos, and is a lethal 3 point shooter and a very solid guard with good ball-handling. Caleb Franck is also a solid sharp-shooter with good defense and adds some length to the Pilgrims. Trevor Orton is a newcomer who you may have seen on the baseball diamond, and looks to add defensive aggressiveness and the ability to hit an open shot, and be a sort of three-and-d type of player. Rounding out the varsity squad is sophomore Charlie Baker and junior Jack Crawford.
Lansing Christian will hope to be more competitive in its second season in the CMAC, and knows it will be a grueling journey if they wish to be successful. The Pilgrims are hosting a district, which includes non conference foes Morrice and Webberville, along with Whitmore Lake, Brighton Livingston Christian, and Ann Arbor Rudolph Steiner. If they can get past this district, the Pilgrims hope to make a deep run in March. It will take everything they got for 4 months, but Coach Fuller and the Pilgrims are ready for the task.
