February 17, 2025

By LCS Senior - Trevor Orton

Over the course of time, both the Lansing Christian and Portland St. Patrick Girls basketball teams have had storied programs, taking home multiple state championships each, including even facing off in one way back in the day. Tonight, the rivalry will be renewed once more for the fourth time in two years, as the newly acquainted CMAC member Lansing Christian will host the Shamrocks of Portland St. Patrick tonight, in a match up of two successful teams. Lansing Christian (13-4, 9-4), are riding the highs of a 6 game winning streak including wins over a solid Laingsburg team, and D1 Mason just the other night. The Shamrocks (11-5, 9-4) have  enjoyed similar success, coming in tied for third place with the Pilgrims, but owning the head to head advantage with a 42-26 victory over the Pilgrims  back on January 7th.

The Pilgrims this season have been led by Wheaton College commit Lydia Brogan, who is scoring the ball as well as ever, but with improved efficiency from the past few seasons. In CMAC play, Brogan is averaging 14.2 / 5.6 /2.5 a night while also averaging slightly over 2 steals a game. Also joining her on the stat sheet is upstart junior Alyssa Shank who has averaged over 2 assists and 2 steals a night, while knocking down 10 3’s in conference games alone. Ava Mustapha and Sophia Carillo have been strong under the hoop, with Carillo averaging over 7 boards a game in CMAC games. Overall, the game should produce a lively atmosphere and is going to be one to watch tonight at Lansing Christian. Both teams fending for a top 3 place in the conference, with this game having massive implications
